CEO’s Speech at 7th Anniversary of Hanjin SM’s founding
Hanjin Ship Management Co. Ltd. has continued to prosper since its foundation. We have started our business to manage 23 bulk carriers upon the establishment 7 years ago; today, we are a leading ship management company around the nation, which 3,700 employees on vessels and on shore work for. This year, it is expected that Hanjin SM exceed our goal (sales 25.3B & profit 2B) by managing 123 vessels, supervising shipbuilding and doing any other business. In addition, we are maintaining safety navigation without any serious ship accidents although there are challenging business condition and various IMO’s rules and regulations. I would like to express my sincere thanks all employees for all efforts you have made.
As you have already acknowledged, our goal in the year of 2020 is to become a global top 7 total premier ship management company by maintaining over 10,000 employees, managing over 350 vessels and recording 83 billion won in sales. To achieve this goal, we should be ready for showing huge leap and growth. From this perspective, I would like to mention some points you should consider.
1. Go together with open communication
We should trust each other between shore-vessels, Koreans-foreigners, customers and cooperative companies with open communication. Let’s go for it with 3C (Communication, Cooperation & Collaboration)!
2. Stick to the basics all the time for safety navigation

We should keep in mind that safety navigation is the most important factor. Safety navigation is our mission, core value and responsibility for our customers, which every seafarer on vessels should acknowledge and observe. You should know that many manuals and system reveal their value when they are properly handled with this basic principle.
3. Nurture passionate talents to dream come true
We need consistent change and innovation to compete with global ship management companies. Only passionate employees of our company can make continuous change and innovation. We should improve ourselves to be professional. Managers and supervisors should go for self-improvement of our employees.
I would like to extend my cordial congratulations on everyone who receives commendation as the Best Team, Best Safety Vessel, Best employee, Employee of the Year.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere thanks to every employee for loyalty and effort. Let us advance in step by step to become a 2020 global top 7 ship manager with sincere cooperation and participation.
